About the maker

The maker at the bench, looking down at his work

Growing up, a love for Japanese streetwear pulled me toward the silver jewelry that came with it — not as an afterthought, but as part of how I put an outfit together. That interest followed me into college, where curiosity about how jewelry was actually made turned into a single class, and that class turned into a stubborn decision: this would be my major, and eventually my career. I earned a BA from San Diego State University, then an AA from FIT, where I won Best Fine Jewelry Design. Along the way I also became a Graduate Gemologist (GG), certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

Since 2011, I’ve worked professionally at the highest levels of the industry: first crafting pieces behind the scenes for one of the world’s most storied auction houses’ diamond collections, and later at a legendary fine jewelry house known for its work in ceramic and its clientele among the most photographed names in film and music.

Ardezen — from “artisan made” — is where that training meets my own vision. Every piece is designed and hand-finished by me personally, from first sketch to final polish.

A little wild in concept, but flawless in execution.

What draws me most is that line between imperfection and precision. I love the philosophy of wabi-sabi — the beauty in something asymmetrical, weathered, not quite perfect — set against the exacting discipline fine jewelry demands. A piece that holds both at once, a little wild in concept but flawless in execution, is the kind of work I chase.

I’m especially drawn to the unexpected. If you have an idea that feels too strange to say out loud, a doodle in the margin of a notebook, a shape you’ve never seen on a ring before — that’s exactly the kind of commission I want. The weirder your imagination, the better the piece tends to turn out.
